24 Aug 2009 : We arrived

Good morning everyone ...
So here we are arrived to our destination yesterday where the building of the new boat will start ... Today!
We had a wonderful crossing of 36 days at sea, with some incredible sunset, we will put some video/pictures soon online. The boat begin to show some sign of ages ... The deck to hull joint started to crack, more delamination on the deck (Even the cockpit seat are now delaminated), the backstay broke at sea and the mainsail is giving up with a lot of sewing to do at sea ...
But except that, we feel like filling the boat with food and leave tomorow ! During the crossing we decided that we wanted a break of hot weather for a bit ... So after a lot of talking, our next cruising test area for the new boat should be NewFoundland and Groenland .. We gonna build the boat in consequence of that ...
ooo and we have taken a serious decision .... We don't want a engine on the next boat either!

15 Jul 2009 : Last leg ... Maybe!

Hello all,
so the weather look good for tomorrow and hurricane look calm too!
We will be heading this afternoon for the last leg and try to reach that main land ... the plan is heading west until around 50w then heading north - north west. We will see with the weather.

We didn't found lithium battery to renew the one on the device ... So hopefully they will last!

12 Jul 2009 : A pain.

Hello all!
well we are still in Santa Maria .... Life can be better for now ...
Catherine burned her foot quite good trying to play with the stove (a second degree burn), my back is killing me since a week, and it hurt like "/$/" each time I am going to pee .... But except that the island is nice ....
OOOO and I forgot there is those depression that keep bringing rain and west wind since we are here ... and 3 others are coming ... Yoohooo!!!!
A well ... It's life.... We are waiting to be better physically and have at least 2 days of descent weather to leave this place and keep going on our againt's the wind travel....

06 Jul 2009 : Wind on the nose!

Hello All!
So here we are in the Villa do Porto in the Azores ... Quite a beautiful place.
It take us around 15 days to reach the place ... The 15 days can be resume quite easily:
2 days of fair wind, 13 days upwind with 2 times some strong wind from the West.... Leaks from a bit everywhere but finally reached the place!
People here welcome us really nicely, even the custom guy give us some fresh Bonito and a nice welcome of the Area ... Cannot complain! We are cleaning out the boat for now, doing a huge laundry (everything received salt water on it) and filling the boat with food and water getting ready for the next leg.
Nothing more to say, we have taken some nice pictures and videos and will try to put them online soon!
10 Jun 2009 : East Wind!!!

Hello All!
And there is the East wind finally today and tomorrow!
So we will be leaving tomorrow West ... We don´t know yet if we will stop in the Azores or no, depending mostly of the weather and water onboard. We carry 160 liters onboard for both of us, giving around 40 days of water if there is no rain .... So depending on this, we will see if a stop to the Azores are mandatory or no.
To say the truth, we really want to be back soon and start the building project. We are looking forward to it and getting really excited about the idea ... Thanks also to Paul Gartside the designer of our future home who give great assistance to all our questions!

Hello all ....
We begin to lost patience a lot about all that sailing ....
16 days of sailing, days and night (Anchoring or drifting when no wind, and raising anchor even at 3ham if the wind pick up!) for doing a small 135 miles! We reached Gibraltar some few days ago after that amount of sailing, the weather sucks and was not right the all strech and without talking about the East wind we are wainting here to pass the straight of Gibraltar!
We are doing ok except that, but this waiting begin to be quite .....a pain.... It´s been 21 days we have left Almerimar and are just here ...
Anyway ... so we are just waiting ....

Hey!
Like you can see on the link to spot us, we are not quite far! Weather changed from what expected and we are just drifting all the time with no wind, or beating upwind for 12 miles in 12 hours!
Weather look better in the next days ...
