Good evening everyone!
Hope you all doing good
Here the work is going really forward.
The windvane part arrived, and a lot of other materials is now
install on the boat (Yeah!).
New GPS, Webbing on the deck for safety line, new block for the
mainsail, sew a lot on the mainsail to give it a chance (Was not able
to afford a new one before departure), new good manual bilge pump (We
never know!), Winches bring to the mast, new Plexiglas for portlight,
etc ...
The boat is getting together and I am mentally prepare for this new
challenge. I was hoping haul out the boat here before leaving, finish
closing old seacock of the engine, and a new coat of anti fooling, but
marina around here charge almost 500$!! Crazy price! The tide is not
high enough to beach the boat. So I will just take a few more bottle
of rum, be more patient for the crossing with my not so clean bottom
(I will dive to clean before leaving) and leave a little bit sooner.
All that to say, that I am really happy to be here again. Working on
my boat and be back to this life that I like. All this time on land
during last winter was begin to make me feel depress!
Take care all!
28 Apr 2008 : Little update! By : Stephane
Hello everybody,
just a quick update.
I'm with Joshua it's been 3 days now, lot's of rain but the work is going forward and faster then expected. Everything will be ready in time and even a little bit before!
It is really nice to be back here, surround by good friends and sleep alone.(I was living in a hostel at toronto, 10 persons/room). The birds are singing, and lot's of nature around(Different from Downtown were I just arrive!).
Mandatory speaking, still just wait for those windvane's part and ready to go!

I am presently sitting in the bus going toward Joshua when I am writing this (3h am), a step toward a new beginning.
Today, at my last day working, they did a little party during lunchtime for my departure.
This did bring me a tear in my eyes, remembering me the sailor curse. Leaving wonderful people just when you begin to know and love them.
I’m not realizing yet that I will be crossing the Atlantic in 2 weeks. I see it like a movie in my head, a movie that will soon become a reality.
I will never thanks enough Dan and her wife Nancy in New Jersey for all their help since I bought Joshua (I bought Joshua from Dan’s son). They contribute so much, and since so long that I don’t even know where to begin!
I would also like to thanks William, again, for his second financial contribution and his words of encouragement.
Also a big Congratulation to Nick, who just finish crossing the Atlantic single-handed on his Contessa 26 (http://www.bigoceans.com).
------
I’ve just arrived in New Jersey 2 hours ago (After a nice 14 hours bus trip), and going to start working on Joshua today. I will try to make a little video of the “preparation” before leaving. ;)
Hopefully I will be leaving within 2 weeks (Depend mostly of my windvane, didn’t received the part yet … been 20 days!)
Have a good one all!

Good morning everyone,
Since my last post several things happen, first I've given my resignation letter to my employer. It was funny how the whole thing went:
Enter in his office
Me: Hi, I would like to talk about a serious matter considering my position
Manager: No problems have a seat
Me: Well I got a great opportunity in front of me for...
Manager: Can you close the door
Me: (Doing my speech on me leaving on my sailboat)
Manager: Oh! I ask you to close the door because I wanted to offer you a full time position with us, how long you will be leaving?
Me: Several years
Manager: I don't think I can't hold the position that long!
My last day at work will be the 25 April, and I will take the bus in direction of Joshua the ... 25 at night (Why wait!). My finance is tight, but enough to cover my departure fee and get me on my way. So mainly I'm just waiting, calculating, waiting recalculating, rewaiting... I've rewrite my TODO list when I will arrive at least 20 times, and calculate my route even more. Only 10 days to go to be back home, on my boat and get ready for the first step ... Crossing the big pond Atlantic ;)
I would like to thanks ADP for the great 2 and a half month I've worked for them, to Justin, who give me camera equipment to be able to make better and more videos about this trip(I'm already excited about the idea!) and to William for his recent financial contribution on the expedition!
I would also like to say thank you to Donna Lange for her words that can be seen at:
http://www.peacefuljourney.ca/press.php
Donna finish an incredible journey, around the world single-handed with only 2 stop via Cap-horn the 16 may 2007 for a total of 290 days at sea. She is also the USA representative for the Oceans Watch project.
Donna Lange : http://www.donnalange.com
I strongly suggest that you take a minute to see the incredible work and effort Oceans Watch is doing around the world. You can also contribute to help them; it will be in the same time, providing help for the planet, oceans, others and yourself.
Oceans Watch: http://www.oceanswatch.org
Thanks to all for your support!
Only 10 days to go, and get ready!!

12 Apr 2008 : Windvane By : Stephane
Good afternoon everyone!
Today, I found a store in England that still sells the parts for my old broken windvane. For the amount of money I was having plan for this, I was able to have all parts needed and they will be on their way soon!!
That means simply, that there is nothing anymore to stop me from leaving in May! All my mandatory things to do are done! It's such a great feeling! Those who speak with me since a long time know that this windvane was an issue for me since months and months.... It's such a release!
So I will keep going with "little champ" (Name given to my windvane on the trimaran, that I decided to give to this one too).
For those who wonder, a windvane is a mechanical device that keeps the course of the boat without any human intervention, a must have for a single hander.
8 Apr 2008 : New day for Joshua !! By : Stephane
Today Joshua became official.
The registration for my ship was done, and Joshua became officially a Canadian vessel named Joshua III.
Wish I'm long life under his new name that barely change !
05 Apr 2008 : Joshua at the mooring By : Stephane
Good afternoon,
just a quick message to say I've just moved Joshua to his mooring until the rest of my stay in Toronto. After several months waiting, Joshua did great and a nice sailing upwind with 10 knots of wind welcome us to the harbor.
A great thanks to my friend Dan Herman, and his wife Nancy to help me in this process. A quick video of that day was put into the videos section, and some pictures in the same related section.
Thanks and wish you all a wonderfull day !
